Constantly Growing: Meet AA Medical's Fernando Luna

Meet Fernando Luna, a Territory Sales Manager at AA Medical for six years. Fernando grew up in a small rural town called Najasa in Camaguey, Cuba, where his mother and grandmother raised him after his father passed away when he was three years old. He developed a fondness for the English language and dreamt of living with his paternal grandfather, who had left Cuba after the triumph of the Fidel Castro revolution. What do you most appreciate in life?

I appreciate my family and friends the most in life. They provide me unconditional love, support, and companionship, making every day more meaningful and enjoyable.

 

What are your favorite memories?

One of the most cherished memories I hold dear is the unforgettable moments when my daughter and son came into this world. Becoming a parent has left an indelible mark on my heart. Another favorite memory that makes me smile is the electrifying moment when Ariel Pestano hit a grand slam in the ninth inning during the thrilling final game between the Villa Clara and Matanzas teams for the Cuban Baseball Championship. The United States Citizenship Oath of Allegiance Ceremony also holds an important place in my heart; that moment will forever be etched in my mind as a symbol of my newfound identity and deep appreciation for the United States.

 

How do you like to start your workday?

Before heading to the office, I start my day by reading the news. Additionally, I always make it a point to check the stock and crypto markets. Staying updated on current events and market trends is essential for me. It helps me stay informed and prepared for the day ahead.

 

What was the best vacation you ever took, and why?

The best vacation I ever had was in the summer of 2009. I went with my girlfriend, son, daughter, mother, and a few of my closest Cuban friends to the San Juan Camagüeyano Carnival

 

 

Can you speak more than one language?

I can speak English and Spanish.

 

What motivates you at work?

What motivates me at work is a combination of factors deeply rooted in my journey and values. Firstly, coming to the US from Cuba in search of political freedom and a better life has instilled in me a strong drive to make the most of the opportunities I have been given. This drive propels me to work hard and strive for excellence to fulfill all my goals and aspirations. Additionally, the desire to help my family and friends is a significant source of motivation for me. I understand the importance of supporting those I care about, and it pushes me to go the extra mile in my work to provide for their needs and create a better future for them. Being a better Sales Rep for my customers and contributing to the growth and success of the company is central to my motivation. I strive to provide exceptional service, understand my customers' needs, and contribute to their achievements. By doing so, I enhance their satisfaction and contribute to the company's overall success. Expressing gratitude and giving back in some way to those who have helped me along the way, such as AA Medical, Ron Plantz, and Matt Nelson, is another strong motivator. I am committed to repaying their support and kindness by delivering exceptional work and contributing to their success through my efforts.

 

Who is your real-life hero?

 My real-life hero is José Martí, the Cuba National Hero.

 

What are you currently excited about in your job? And Why?

I am currently excited about the rapid growth of our company and the opportunity to grow alongside it. Witnessing our organization's exponential expansion and progress brings a sense of accomplishment and pride. It means that our collective efforts and hard work are yielding good results.

 

What type of music are you into?

 I am into all types of music, especially EDM, Cuban Salsa, Rock, and Spanish Rhumba.

 

What did you want to be when you were small?

From childhood, I dreamt of being an ambassador as it represented an opportunity to explore other countries and leave Cuba behind. I have always yearned to travel and immerse myself in different cultures. With an adventurous spirit and unwavering determination, I have continuously sought personal growth and strived to achieve my goals.
